What a weekend!! I was officially accepted into Virginia is for Bloggers last week and just in time. There was a meetup scheduled this weekend at a new local restaurant Flames 231. The food was absolutely fantastic. They specialize in pizzas and assorted delectables that are all baked in a real wood burning oven. We got to try a lot of things and even got to meet the CEO of the restaurant and the marketing firm behind it.
And speaking of the marketing firm, The Firestarter Group, I got to speaking with them about Dogs and shenanagins and he told me about a potential Dog Festival around 18th street in the Spring. How awesome would that be?! Living downtown can be a pain with four-legged friends since there are limited dog parks and even fewer events. I’ll work closely with him over the next few months hopefully, and be able to share what’s to come for us and our canine pals!
There were 16 bloggers there from Virginia Bloggers and I highly recommend you check out VABloggers for the full list of awesome people who attended and check out their blogs as well! They specialized from food, fashion, to outdoor fun!
Talking with Firestarter got me psyched to get more involved with events and places in RVA that caters to dogs and other animal BFFs. I’ll try to keep my ear to the ground on new events and places, but feel free to submit them as well so I can spread the word!
A sign that caught my eye this weekend was about the DOGMA pet costume contest. Not only are there cash prizes available, but it would be a great way for our little friends to meet one another. The actually contest is not reserved for dogs only, so bring your cats, birds, turtles, and fish to the show (we may just want to keep some separated a little).
I unfortunately couldn’t find any information on DOGMA’s site, but here’s all you need to know:
- The event is THIS Saturday Oct. 27th from 2.30-4pm, pet sign-up is from 2.30-3pm, and the contest begins at 3pm. If you have any specific questions you should probably direct them to DOGMA who can be reached at (804)358.9267.
I hope to see you all there!

Love the pictures from the meet up!!!
